Description
This medicine is an antigout agent used to treat and prevent pain associated with gouty arthritis. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. AVOID DRINKING GRAPEFRUIT JUICE while taking this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE and you are using it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Cautions
BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. IF YOU ARE TAKING THIS MEDICINE TO TREAT A PAINFUL ATTACK of gouty arthritis and you experience nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, stop taking this medicine, even if pain continues, unless your doctor directs otherwise. FOR WOMEN: THIS MEDICINE HAS BEEN SHOWN TO CAUSE HARM to the human fetus. IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Side Effects
CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach ache or stomach upset, sore throat, fever, unusual bleeding or bruising, or unusual tiredness or weakness. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience muscle pain or weakness, or numbness or tingling. An allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
