Lopressor Directions

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is nearly time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and resume your normal dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once or two doses within a short time period.

Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor. If your doctor has advised that you check your blood pressure regularly, it is important that you do this while taking this medication. This medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Please avoid driving, operating machinery or any other potentially hazardous activity until you know how you react to this medicine.
For patients who have diabetes, Lopressor or metoprolol may mask the signs of low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia). Please speak to your doctor about recognizing other signs and how to manage a hypoglycemic episode.
For women who wish to become pregnant, please discuss the risks and benefits of metoprolol during pregnancy. This medicine is excreted in breast milk, therefore it is advised that you discuss the risks with your doctor before breastfeeding your baby.
Lopressor Side Effects
Patients may experience some minor side effects that usually subside with treatment. These include: tiredness, weakness, mild drowsiness, or lightheadedness. If these are severe or continue for some time, contact your doctor.
