Nurofen Gel Description

Nurofen Gel contains Ibuprofen 5%w/w in a transdermal (crosses through the skin) gel base. Nurofen Gel provides targeted relief for sprains, strains and sports injuries. Nurofen Gel is gently rubbed into the skin for the temporary relief of pain and inflammation associated with acute soft tissue injuries including sprains, strains and sports injuries. Nurofen Gel also helps relieve arthritic pain or back pain where topical relief is preferred. Nurofen Gel is easily absorbed, odourless, non greasy and non staining.

Nurofen Gel Directions

Adults and Children Over 12 years of age: Squeeze 1.5-4 inches of Nurofen Gel onto the affected area then replace the cap. (This represents a dose of 50-125mg of Ibuprofen) Gently rub the Nurofen Gel in until it is absorbed - then wash your hands. Apply Nurofen Gel when necessary leaving at least 4 hours before reapplication. Do NOT apply Nurofen Gel more than FOUR times in 24 hours.

Nurofen Gel Cautions

Do not apply Nurofen Gel to broken skin, on the lips or near the eyes. Do not use Nurofen Gel if you are allergic to aspirin, ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory medicines. If you have asthma which you know is aggravated by analgesics (pain relievers) then check with your doctor or pharmacist before applying Nurofen Gel. Discontinue use of Nurofen Gel if a rash or irritation occurs. It is recommended that Nurofen Gel should NOT be used during pregnancy except under medical supervision. Do NOT use Nurofen Gel during the last three months of pregnancy.

Nurofen Gel Side Effects

Topical NSAIDs can cause itching, eczema or rashes. Stop using the products immediately if you experience any of these side effects. Although less likely to occur, internal side effects from topical NSAIDs are similar to those of oral ones. They can include stomach upsets, headaches and dizziness, and even internal bleeding, asthma and kidney problems.
Avoid topical NSAIDs or use them sparingly if you’ve ever suffered from stomach ulcers (or similar gastrointestinal problems), kidney failure or asthma.
