Omnicef Directions
Follow the directions for using Cefdinir 300mg provided by your doctor. Cefdinir 300mg may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. Do not take any medicines containing magnesium or aluminum (such as antacids, vitamins/minerals, and quinapril), or iron within 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Cefdinir 300mg as they may decrease the amount of medicine absorbed by your body. STORE CEFDINIR 300mg at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. TO CLEAR UP YOUR INFECTION COMPLETELY, continue using Cefdinir 300mg for the full course of treatment even if you feel better in a few days. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF CEFDINIR 300mg, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.
Omnicef Cautions
IF YOU HAVE HAD A SEVERE ALLERGIC REACTION to a cephalosporin antibiotic (such as Ceclor, Keflex, Ceftin, Duricef) or a penicillin antibiotic (such as amoxicillin, ampicillin), contact your doctor or pharmacist BEFORE TAKING CEFDINIR 300mg. A severe reaction includes a severe rash, hives, breathing difficulties, or dizziness. If you have a question about whether you are allergic to Cefdinir 300mg or if a certain medicine is a cephalosporin, contact your doctor or pharmacist. IF YOU EXPERIENCE difficulty breathing or tightness of chest; swelling of eyelids, face, or lips; or develop a rash or hives, tell your doctor immediately. Do not take any more of Cefdinir 300mg unless your doctor tells you to do so. IF MODERATE TO SEVERE DIARRHEA OCCURS during or after treatment with Cefdinir 300mg, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Do not treat it with non-prescription (over-the-counter) medicines. CEFDINIR 300mg MAY COLOR THE STOOLS a reddish color if you are taking any products that contain iron. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Cefdinir 300mg during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF CEFDINIR 300mg IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Cefdinir 300mg, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. IF YOU HAVE DIABETES, Cefdinir 300mg may cause false test results with some urine glucose tests. Check with your doctor before you adjust the dose of your diabetes medicine or change your diet.
Omnicef Side Effects
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Cefdinir 300mg include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and headache. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience vaginal irritation or discharge. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience a fever, sore throat, unusual bleeding or bruising, yellowing of skin or eyes, stomach pain, mucous or blood in your stools, or seizures. If an allergic reaction to Cefdinir 300mg occurs, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; itching; dizziness; swelling of hands, face, lips, eyes, throat, or tongue; difficulty swallowing or breathing; or hoarseness.
