What are Generics? A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, how it is taken, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name and works the same way in the body in the same amount of time.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is the generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (e.g. different shape or color), as trademark laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to invent a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name drug and sell it at substantial discounts.

Patanase Description

Patanase Solution is an antihistamine nasal spray used to treat runny nose, stuffy nose, and sneezing due to allergies. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Patanase Directions

Follow the directions for using Patanase Solution provided by your doctor. Before using Patanase Solution for the first time, you must prime the pump. To do this, point the pump away from yourself and others and spray 5 times or until a fine mist appears. Re-prime the pump if it has not been used for more than 7 days. To do this, point the pump away from yourself and others, then spray 2 times. TO USE A NOSE SPRAY, gently blow your nose. Sit down and tilt your head back slightly. Place the tip of the spray container into the nose. Using a finger from your other hand, press against the opposite nostril to close it off. Breathe gently through the open nostril and squeeze the spray container. If you are using more than 1 spray, wait for 1 to 2 minutes between sprays. After using the medicine, rinse the tip of the spray unit in hot water and dry with a clean tissue to prevent contamination. STORE PATANASE SOLUTION between 39 and 77 degrees F (4 and 25 degrees C), away from heat and light. THROW AWAY ANY MEDICINE that is left in the bottle after you have used 240 sprays (not counting the sprays used to prime the bottle for the first time). You may no longer receive the correct amount of medicine with each spray after you have used 240 sprays. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF PATANASE SOLUTION, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose, then go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.
