Rapamune Directions

Follow the directions for using Rapamune 2mg provided by your doctor. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions you may have about Rapamune 2mg. SWALLOW WHOLE. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. RAPAMUNE 2mg MAY BE TAKEN on an empty stomach or with food. Always take it the same way, either with food or on an empty stomach. IF YOU ARE ALSO TAKING CYCLOSPORINE, take Rapamune 2mg 4 hours after your cyclosporine dose unless otherwise directed by your doctor. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may increase the risk of side effects from Rapamune 2mg. Talk to your doctor before including grapefruit or grapefruit juice in your diet while taking Rapamune 2mg. STORE RAPAMUNE 2mg at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) in a tightly-closed and light-resistant container, away from heat and light. Protect from direct sunlight. Take Rapamune 2mg at the same time each day. CONTINUE TO TAKE RAPAMUNE 2mg even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF RAPAMUNE 2mg, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.

Rapamune Cautions

DO NOT TAKE RAPAMUNE 2mg if you have had an allergic reaction to it or if you are allergic to any ingredient in this product. DO NOT STOP USING RAPAMUNE 2mg OR CHANGE YOUR DOSE without first checking with your doctor. Do not switch between tablet and solution dose forms of Rapamune 2mg without checking with your doctor. Laboratory and/or medical tests, including kidney function, urine protein, blood counts, cholesterol levels, and sirolimus blood levels, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using Rapamune 2mg. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL TREATMENTS, EMERGENCY CARE, OR SURGERY, tell the doctor that you are using Rapamune 2mg. SOME PEOPLE TREATED WITH RAPAMUNE 2mg HAVE DEVELOPED SEVERE KIDNEY PROBLEMS associated with the BK virus infection. Tell your doctor right away if you notice symptoms of kidney problems (eg, change in the amount of urine produced, difficult or painful urination, blood in the urine). In kidney transplant patients, BK virus infection may cause loss of the transplanted kidney. Discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor. RAPAMUNE 2mg MAY INCREASE YOUR RISK FOR DEVELOPING SKIN CANCER. Avoid exposure to the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths while you are taking Rapamune 2mg. Use a sunscreen or protective clothing if you must be outside for a prolonged period. RAPAMUNE 2mg MAY REDUCE THE NUMBER OF BLOOD CELLS THAT ARE NEEDED FOR CLOTTING. To prevent bleeding, avoid situations where bruising or injury may occur. RAPAMUNE 2mg MAY LOWER YOUR RESISTANCE TO INFECTION. Prevent infection by avoiding contact with people with colds or other infections. Do not touch your eyes or the inside of your nose unless you have thoroughly washed your hands first. DECREASED SPERM PRODUCTON has occurred in some men taking Rapamune 2mg. Normal sperm production has usually returned when Rapamune 2mg was stopped. Discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor. PATIENTS WHO TAKE RAPAMUNE 2mg AFTER AN ORGAN TRANSPLANT may have an increased risk for developing high blood sugar or diabetes. High blood sugar may make you feel confused, drowsy, or thirsty. It can also make you flush, breathe faster, or have a fruit-like breath odor. If these symptoms occur, tell your doctor right away. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE HAVING IMMUNIZATIONS (VACCINATIONS) while you are using Rapamune 2mg. FOR WOMEN: DO NOT USE RAPAMUNE 2mg if you are pregnant. Use an effective form of birth control before starting and while taking Rapamune 2mg. Continue to use effective birth control for at least 12 weeks after stopping Rapamune 2mg. IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Rapamune 2mg during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF RAPAMUNE 2mg IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking Rapamune 2mg.

Rapamune Side Effects

SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Rapamune 2mg include acne, constipation, diarrhea, headache, joint pain, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, or weakness. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience calf pain or swelling; chest pain; change in the amount of urine produced; dark urine; difficult or painful urination; fast or irregular heartbeat; infection (fever, chills, sore throat, unusual vaginal discharge or odor); mental or mood changes; muscle pain or tenderness; night sweats; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; severe headache or stomach pain; shortness of breath; skin growths or discoloration; swelling of the hands, ankles, feet, or stomach; difficulty swallowing or breathing; swollen glands or veins; tremor; unexplained dry cough; unusual bleeding or bruising; unusual lumps; unusual tiredness or weakness; unusual weight gain or loss; vision changes; wound healing problems; or yellowing of the skin or eyes. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to Rapamune 2mg is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; unusual hoarseness.
