What are Generics? A generic
drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality,
how it is taken, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available
on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients
as the brand-name and works the same way in the body in the same amount of time.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is the generics
are less expensive and may look slightly different (e.g. different shape or color),
as trademark laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Renagel Description
Renagel 800mg is a phosphate binder used to reduce the amount of phosphorus in the blood in patients with chronic kidney disease who are on dialysis.
Renagel Directions
Follow the directions for using Renagel 800mg provided by your doctor. SWALLOW WHOLE. Do not break, open, crush, or chew before swallowing. Take Renagel 800mg with meals. RENAGEL 800mg MAY BIND with other medicines reducing the amount your body can absorb and use. If you are taking other medicines, your doctor may want you to take them 1 hour before or 3 hours after taking Renagel 800mg. Contact your doctor if you have any question about when to take your dose. STORE RENAGEL 800mg at room temperature at 77 degrees F in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is allowed. CONTINUE TO TAKE RENAGEL 800mg even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF RENAGEL 800mg, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.
Renagel Cautions
DO NOT TAKE RENAGEL 800mg if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. Laboratory and/or medical tests, including calcium, bicarbonate, and chloride blood levels, may be performed to monitor your progress. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using Renagel 800mg. RENAGEL 800mg MAY REDUCE CERTAIN VITAMINS in your body. Check with your doctor about whether or not you should take a vitamin supplement while you take Renagel 800mg. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Renagel 800mg during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF RENAGEL 800mg IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Renagel 800mg, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby
Renagel Side Effects
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Renagel 800mg include diarrhea, indigestion, headache, gas, nausea, stomach pain, or vomiting. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience constipation. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience severe or persistent constipation or stomach pain. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to Renagel 800mg is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
