Restylane Description
Retylane is a crystal-clear, biodegradable NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid) gel, which is injected into the dermis in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The result is instantaneous, producing a long-lasting, natural enhancement, gentle and safe to the skin.
Restylane Directions
Restylane is administered by injection only by a physician. The amount of Restylane that is administered depends on the site that is being treated but it should not be more than 1.5 ml per site.
Restylane Cautions
Restylane should not be administered if you have recently used drugs that thin your blood or prevent clotting. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18 years, you should not use Restylane. Restylane should not be used by people with previous bad allergies, particularly to certain microorganisms known as gram-positive bacteria; by people with previous bad allergies to drugs that have required in-hospital treatment; or by people with bleeding disorders. Restylane should not be injected anywhere except the skin or just under the skin.
Patients should be limited to 6.0 mL per treatment. The safety or effectiveness of Restylane for the treatment of anatomic regions other than nasolabial folds has not been established in controlled clinical studies. The use of Restylane at the site of skin sores, pimples, rashes, hives, cysts, or infection should be postponed until healing is complete. Use of Restylane in these instances could delay healing or make your skin problems worse.
Restylane Side Effects
The most common side effects of hyaluronic acid are reactions at the site of injection such as bruising, redness, pain, itching, tenderness and swelling. Vitamin E supplements, St. John's Wort, aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as Aleve and Motrin may increase bruising or bleeding after injection of hyaluronic acid. Therefore, patients should stop these drugs at least one week before the injections. Post marketing adverse effects that have been reported include infection, allergic reactions, necrosis (death of tissue), and acne.
