Tazorac Description

Tazorac is a prescription only medicine used to treat psoriasis, acne, or sun damaged skin. It is classed as a type of retinoid, which works by regulating the production of skin cells. This improves the overall health and appearance of your skin. This medicine is available in two concentrations as either a cream or a gel.

Tazorac Directions

Take this medication as directed by your doctor and please read the enclosed information leaflet carefully. Ask your nurse, doctor or pharmacist to answer any questions you may have.
Before applying the cream or gel, wash and dry the affected area, then gently rub the medicine on your skin until it is evenly distributed. Wash your hands immediately after using this medicine, unless your hands are the area being treated. It is advised that this medicine is used only at bedtime, unless advised by your doctor.
If you miss a bedtime dose, skip this dose and do not apply the medicine until the next night. Do not apply a dose in the morning or apply two doses at once.
Store this medicine at room temperature with the lid tightly closed. Ensure the medicine is stored away from direct heat or light.

Tazorac Cautions

If you are using this product to treat acne, it may take several weeks to notice an improvement in your skin. Do not use any other cleansers, toners or skin products without consulting your doctor. If you are using a product that softens your skin, use this before applying this medicine.
If you are using this product for psoriasis and you do not see an improvement in one week, or if your condition deteriorates, please see your doctor.
Do not exceed your recommended dose. Avoid getting Tazorac in your eyes, inside your nose or mouth, or onto healthy skin.
This medicine may increase your sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid using sunlamps, tanning beds or being outdoors until you know how you react to this medicine. If you must be outside for long periods, please wear sunscreen, protective clothing and remain in the shade as much as possible.
Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, or plan to become pregnant. If you suspect that you could be pregnant, see your doctor immediately. It is not known if Tazorac is excreted into breast milk, therefore it is advised that you discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist before you decide to breast feed.

Tazorac Side Effects

There are some side effects that may occur, but these usually subside with treatment. These include: burning, redness, painful skin, itching, worsening of condition, or increased skin irritation.
