Pentasa is an anti-inflammatory drug used to treat ulcerative colitis or mild-to-moderate Crohn's disease. Pentasa works by acting locally on the cells lining the intestine and regulates the chemicals released by these cells. This improves symptoms and allows the gut time to recover. It may also be used to prevent acute flare ups from occurring.
