12 Months of Giving: Alzheimer’s Association

At Planet Drugs Direct, for the 11th month of our 12 Months of Giving program. With the arrival of 2015, we made a resolution to raise money for a different charity each month. In November, we proudly raised $270 for the Alzheimer’s Association!

Throwing Pies for Charity

The members of our office staff at Planet Drugs Direct are currently holding a pie in the face fundraiser. We wanted to incorporate some fun into raising as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause. Members of our staff are encouraged to purchase a pie or several pies for $10.00 a pie. Once a staff member purchases a pie, he or she will have the chance to throw it at the face of a supervisor. This is an entertaining event and the best part is that all of the proceeds go to the Alzheimer’s Association. Our staff members know that the more pies they buy, the more it benefits the activities of the Alzheimer’s Association.

A Look at the Alzheimer’s Association

The goal of the Alzheimer’s Association is to provide care and support to those affected by this disease as well as their families. Founded in April of 1980, this non-profit organization strives to advocate for people affected by Alzheimer’s as well as push for more research and treatments that can improve quality of life. The Alzheimer’s Association won’t quit until there is a cure. This enduring organization offers support in many different forms including setting up a helpline that operates 24/7. People can call the helpline with questions about care, support groups, medicines and other issues related to this disease. Also, the Alzheimer’s Association educates people on the stages of this disease and the treatments that are available. The organization gives individuals access to a library full of helpful resources so they can learn more about Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Association is there to offer a variety of services to those touched by this disease.
