Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) Information
CHOLECALCIFEROL (koh luh kal SIF uh rawl) is a form of Vitamin D. It helps your body keep the right amount of calcium and phosphorus for healthy bones and teeth.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.
They need to know if you have any of these conditions: -heart disease -high levels of calcium or phosphorous in the blood -high levels of Vitamin D in the blood -kidney disease -liver disease -other chronic disease -parathyroid disease -stomach or digestion problems -an unusual or allergic reaction to vitamin D, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives -pregnant or trying to get pregnant -breast-feeding
Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. Follow the directions on the product label. If taking a chewable vitamin, then chew it thoroughly before swallowing. It is best to take this vitamin with food. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. While this drug may be used for children for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once. NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
Do not take this medicine with any of the following medications: -vitamin D This medicine may also interact with the following medications: -digoxin -diuretics -medicines for cholesterol like colestipol or cholestyramine -medicines to treat seizures or nerve pain -mineral oil -orlistat -phosphorus -some over-the-counter supplements
