Nexlizet (Bempedoic Acid / Ezetimibe) is a prescription oral medication used to lower LDL-C (“bad”) cholesterol in adults with primary hyperlipidemia, including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH). It is often prescribed in combination with statins or other cholesterol-lowering medications for patients who need additional LDL-C reduction or who cannot tolerate statins.
Nexlizet (Bempedoic Acid / Ezetimibe) combines two cholesterol-lowering drugs with distinct mechanisms of action:
Bempedoic acid reduces cholesterol production in the liver
Ezetimibe decreases cholesterol absorption in the intestines
Nexlizet (Bempedoic Acid / Ezetimibe) is not a statin and should be used along with dietary changes and other lipid-lowering therapies when appropriate.
Nexlizet (Bempedoic Acid / Ezetimibe) is prescribed to:

Help manage cholesterol in patients with HeFH
Use with or without statins, especially in people who are statin-intolerant
It is not approved for use in children or for the treatment of conditions other than those related to LDL cholesterol reduction.
