Staxyn (vardenafil) is used to treat erectile dysfunction by improving blood flow to the penis when sexually aroused. It works by blocking an enzyme called phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5), which helps relax blood vessels and increase blood flow.
Vardenafil (Staxyn) is prescribed primarily for erectile dysfunction (ED). It helps men who have difficulty getting or maintaining an erection by increasing blood flow to the penis when sexually aroused. This makes it easier to achieve and sustain an erection during sexual activity.
In some cases, it may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by a healthcare provider.

Common side effects of vardenafil include:
Headache
Dizziness
Flushing
Upset stomach.
Because vardenafil causes blood vessels to dilate, it can lower blood pressure. When used with other medications that work similarly (e.g., nitrates for chest pain), the combination can cause unsafe drops in blood pressure. Before starting any new medication, including Staxyn (vardenafil), it’s critical to talk with your healthcare providers about your health background and any other prescription or over-the-counter products you use to ensure they can be used safely together.
Less common but more serious side effects may include:
Allergic reactions (rash, swelling around the throat, difficulty breathing)
Vision changes
Prolonged erections (priapism)
Abnormal heart rhythm

Dosage recommendations vary depending on individual factors. The starting dose of vardenafil for erectile dysfunction is often 10 mg, taken about one hour before sexual activity. The dose can be adjusted between 5 mg and 20 mg based on effectiveness and tolerance. Do not take more than one dose within 24 hours.
