Stendra (avanafil) is used to help treat males with signs of sexual function problems (impotence or erectile dysfunction-ED). In combination with sexual stimulation, Stendra (avanafil) works by increasing the blood flow to the penis to assist a male in getting and maintaining an erection.

Cardiovascular Risks | Should avoid use in patients with cardiovascular disease where sexual activity is inadvisable. This drug is not recommended for patients with recent MI, stroke, life-threatening arrhythmia, or severe high or low blood pressure. Monitor for any signs of vasodilatory effects (e.g., low blood pressure or dizziness). |
CYP3A4 Inhibitors | Do not use strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. Limit dose to 50 mg with moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors. Your healthcare providers can help you determine which prescription and over-the-counter products are safe to use with Stendra. |
Prolonged Erection | Seek immediate medical assistance for erections longer than 4 hours to avoid permanent damage. Use caution in patients with predispositions to priapism. |
Eye Effects | Discontinue if sudden vision loss occurs. |
Hearing Loss | Discontinue if sudden hearing loss occurs. |
Alpha-Blockers/Antihypertensives | May increase blood pressure-lowering effects in the body. Start at the lowest dose if used together. |
Alcohol | Substantial alcohol use (e.g., three or more drinks) can increase the risk of dangerous drops in blood pressure. Symptoms include dizziness upon standing, increased heart rate, and headache. |
Other ED Therapies | Not recommended for use with other PDE5 inhibitors or ED treatments. |
Bleeding Disorders | Safety is unknown in patients with bleeding disorders or active peptic ulceration. |
STDs | Does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases. |

Blurred vision

Frequent urge to urinate
Difficult or labored breathing
Erection lasting longer than 4 hours

It’s recommended that your first 100 mg be taken as a single and no more than once a day. Usually taken 15 minutes before sexual intercourse. Your primary care physician may decide to adjust your dose if needed. The maximum dose is 200 mg per day, but it’s important not to change your dose without first speaking with your healthcare provider.
It’s recommended that you do not drink excessive amounts of alcohol when taking Stendra (avanafil). Drinking three or more alcoholic beverages can increase your chances of dangerous drops in blood pressure. Initial symptoms include headache, dizziness, and increased heart rate.
